10:49 am - A small anniversary
Today, three years ago, I spent 12 hours driving from Southern Oregon to Los Angeles, with boxes of books and clothes in the trunk and back seat of my car.

I've lived in my new city for 3 years now. Wow.

Kind of crazy to think about. They've gone both faster and slower than I would expect. I wonder what my next year here will hold?

And before I forget:

Happy Birthday, whitemartyr!
Current Location: work
Current Mood: contemplativecontemplative
Current Music: April Child, from the Rigoletto soudtrack (in my head)

(15 lit candles | Light a candle)

Thank you. You know, we miss you too--if you ever visit out this way and don't stop into to see us, we'll be very disappointed in you. ;-)

*grins, takes a bow*

Yeah, I just kind of wish I could do the same thing I did that night after my 12 hours of mad driving: go to Hollywood and Highland and eat at the CPK to celebrate whitemartyr's birthday.

Wow. So, like, we were corresponding before you moved, iirc. Has it really been that three years? Congrats on surviving LA, and continued prosperity. :-)

We were, yes. :-) November 2002 is when I joined Cascade Times, and sometime that winter when I joined Sentinels for Christ. And I think you and Kat were the only online people I included in my Sarah-is-moving-to-LA mass email that summer.

Wow. It *has* been a while, hasn't it?

Surviving, yes. :-) Hopefully more than that, eventually. But God is good--even in such a city as this.

And now, we bestow upon thee the Mantle of the Californite. Wear it proudly, and a little crazily, as all Californians do.

I wonder what the Mantle looks like.

*imagines a royal robe in a vaguely Hawaiian print, fringed with palm leaves*

I admire you. The more I get to know myself, the more I realize I'd be absolutely terrified of doing something like that.

Don't think I wasn't. I'm a small-town girl, homeschooled, sheltered, a bookworm whose childhood social life came mostly through my church. It took God five years to convince me He wanted me in L.A., and there's no way I would have come otherwise.

But this place is His as much as anywhere else, even if His work here is nearly underground. [Sometimes I feel like Syndey Bristow from Alias, except I'm not that brave....]

Why, thank you. :-) Hopefully one of these days it'll start to feel more like an accomplishment. Heh.
