05:08 pm - Remix the drabble stories are up!
Can't reveal what I wrote for this round, but here's the round 6 tag--looking for the 10 index posts, and you'll be able to find remixes by fandom.

My fic Day Has Gone Down was remixed as Ten Words. :)

There are some great House, Bones, and X-Files fics. Keep an eye on the rating and pairings, though, we have a few really weird ones in this mix.

For the life of me I've never understood the concept of remixing. It's like some fandom secret everyone knows but me!

Heh. It's not that hard to explain; but do you write? Because it's harder if you don't.

Ever read a story (fic or professional) that used an idea you really liked, but you didn't like the way it was handled or you could think of a much cooler thing to do with it? Writing remixes is like getting a chance to do exactly that, with the author's permission. *g* It's fun. (Seriously, the first remixthedrabble challenge I did, the gal I got had a fic that was precisely an idea I'd thought of writing an never managed to, so I got to remix it and satisfy that particular creative urge all at one go.)

EEK! If I was a writer I don't think I could handle having that done to my story!

::twitch::

But it seems very popular, so hey, go crazy and enjoy!

That's why it's only done in ficathons, where people can give permission for this to happen. *g* Otherwise there would be way too much angst going on. Most remix ficathons also allow an author to specify a "safe story," which is one that they do not want touched at all ever. It's a good compromise, and fun to see what other people come up with.
