10:45 am - Ack you guys, pray, please
We have two cats at our house, here, which belong to one of my roommates. All of us were gone over Christmas, so we got a friend to cat/housesit, which seemed to work out well. Until I got home (first of us) and realized that I didn't see one of the cats at all, and there was extra food in the automatic dishes.

He got out. And we don't know where he is. Please pray that he finds his way home, and is safe meanwhile. He's big, has all his claws, and is a gorgeous sable gray with a white chest. Name of Pixel. He's also the world's biggest scaredy-cat. I'm sure he's terrified, wherever he is.

Okay, you've hit a "freak-out" nerve for me. So, from my experience with missing cats, here are my suggestions:

Are there bushes around your house or in your yard? Does the house have a deck? Do your neighbors have bushes or a deck? Check there. If Pixel is a scaredy-cat, he might have gone to ground someplace where he would feel safe.

Does the house have a basement/crawl space that he could get into? Is there a way he could have gotten into the walls of the house? It's been known to happen.

Are there any closests or other storage or hidy-hole places he could be shut in?

*hugs* and prayers.

Not many bushes, here. We've checked the crawl spaces as much as possible without crawling in ourselves (that's something we may do later). We've checked all the closets and hidey-holes we can think of, put out food and water in a sheltered place near the back door, etc.

Now we wait, mostly. It's also raining here, so he may not come out till that tapers off.

Oh no, Pixel ;_; He needs to come back so I can steal him!

On a more serious note, is he chipped? And have you been putting food or water outside?

He's strictly an inside cat, so not chipped (also, I think when E got him, that was less common than it is now). Yes, we've got food and water outside in a sheltered place we can see from the door.

Maybe check the closest animal shelters/put signs up? The signs actually worked for my neighbor when her parrot escaped... she got him back over a week later.

Oh, man, my sister also has a big gray cat named Pixel...

I don't pray, as you know, but I certainly wish you good luck in finding the little guy. I know what it's like to lose a cat that way. :(
