03:06 pm - Proof that my brain is weird
For some reason (possibly because I am writing a fic with Amy in it?), my brain has decided that Amy Pond reminds me very much of Jill Pole.

I...really don't know why. (Rory doesn't remind me of Eustace at all, and Eleven is closer to Aslan than to Puddleglum.)
Current Mood: amusedamused

Hmmmm. Perhaps it's because Amy is torn between scepticism and belief. Consider Jill's interactions with Aslan: "If you are thirsty, come and drink." And she asks him to promise not to eat her, and he refuses. Eleven keeps on asking Amy to believe him, to trust him, in situations where Amy is blind, just like Jill has to keep on trusting Aslan in the midst of blindness and doubt.

Yes. That must be part of it. Oh! And not only being asked to trust him, but to *remember* things; "remember what I told you when you were seven? It's important." A bit like the Signs.

Hmmmm. Now I am having thinky thoughts about the finale.

(Also, wow, yes, part of this must be the fic I'm writing, because Amy is in a position where she really REALLY has to trust the Doctor.)

It's coming along! A couple more scenes to write and then a good bit of rewriting to make sure it all works together (and I'll have to find me a DW beta, too)... I'm hoping to post by the end of the week.

Puddleglum was played by Tom Baker. Trufax.

I am re-reading the "Grub-and-Staker" mysteries by Alisa Craig (or possibly Charlotte McLeod; I forget which pseudonym she was writing that series under) and Oswald is reading as Rory to me, which is kind of distracting.

ETA: I have all sorts of thoughts about that scene in the angel two-parter (I forget which part it's in) where Amy has to keep her eyes closed, and the Doctor tells her, "You have to walk like you can see." It's very much walking by faith, and not by sight.

Indeed! We owned that version of The Silver Chair when I was child--and when I got into DW, I was like, wait, that one looks...familiar...OMG PUDDLEGLUM, HAI!

I have glommed so strongly onto Rory that I'm actually trying to get my hands on other stuff Arthur Darvill has been in; he's good enough that I'm even thinking up parts that would be awesome for him to play.

I hadn't even thought about that scene with Amy having to "walk like she can see" in spiritual terms. Whoa. (You should post ponder-y DW thoughts. I love those. *g*)
