|10:13 am - Work-related hazards (and NaNo)|
So I just did the stupidest thing I've ever done at work. Stapling a stack of papers together, I managed to squish my right middle finger in the stapler! It's mildly swollen and tender and will probably bruise, from the feeling of it. Not bad enough that I can go home sick (darn!), but bad enough that I feel annoyed and am currently working off the pain/adreneline spike.
Okay. Day two of NaNo, I wrote: 374 words. Grand total to date: 1342 or so (I'm working from memory here).
Slowpoke me. I'd best catch up this weekend.
Current Mood: working

Ow-how. My sympathies, office equipment always seems designed to harm the unwary. Shredders, staplers, three-hole punches...:-)
They so are! And to your list I will add manila file folder. You'd think they were harmless--people even joke about paper cuts and so on. Well. When you're stuffing files in drawers and your hand slips, and you slice the ball of a finger (or worse, the web between finger and thumb) on the edge of a file folder...there is blood, there is pain, and I've seen papercuts that should, possibly, have gotten stitches.
Thanks for the empathy!

Eech, papercuts. I've never gotten a cut from a file folder (we tend to use folders that wear at the edges) but paper cuts from licking mailing envelopes sting like crazy.
Awww, poor Sarah's finger. Poor Sarah! No more squishing your appendages in things!
I've been writing for several hours. Kinda slumped down and need a break but trying to think of a break that doesn't involve lots of money. Hmm. It's wet and gross outside.
New CSI tonight. YAY!
Break without $$...hmmm. I'd read a book, but that's me, and I expect you meant "break outside the house where you've been cooped up writing".
Send the rain our way! I'll gladly swap you the cool autumn sunshine we've got going on down here. Cool for LA, that is.
Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Though you can't use it as an excuse to stop NaNoing.

Sheesh. If it's painful to type, it's an excuse to stop Nanoing until it's healed.
Well, I could write by hand. ;-)
No, if it was that bad, I would've told my super and gone home "sick", since a majority of my current work in data entry and I use that finger a lot.
Much better today, anyway.

Oh, that's good.
I thought it would be clear that I was mostly teasing. And the bit of me that's not teasing is the bit that knows from experience is that things will always
crop up during NaNo to keep one from writing; if we want to finish, we have to keep going however we can, even if it's with a tape recorder. Though if I'd thought izhilzha
was going to be seriously sidelined (she's still posting, after all), I wouldn't have been teasing her. I'm sorry that wasn't clear.

I'm sorry, I suppose I was in too literal a mood and took you seriously.
