|06:10 pm - WTF, USPS?|
My landlord still hasn't received my money order for this month's rent, which was sent certified mail Saturday morning, Dec. 2.
I can't pay that amount again. $650. I'll only have $400 tomorrow when I get my paycheck. And there is gas and groceries (and I still haven't bought my dress for the wedding, dammit) and other life necessities.
And the US Postal Service hotline is closed for the night already.
Current Mood: infuriated

I only ever pay direct into his bank account. There are enough ways for me to be late with the rent as it is.
Oh, I wish they had something like that set up. As it is, we can only pay by check or money order, and we have to mail it in. Idiotic way of doing it, says I, putting yourself and your $$ at the mercy of the postal service.

And at Christmastime, no less!
I have never hung up on anyone. I just hung up on my landlord's go-between person (I think she's really the landlord in disguise, actually) because she kept saying that I should have sent it overnight mail and that it was totally my fault that it hasn't gotten to them yet and that I now owe a late fee.
Get stuffed, woman, I say. NOT. MY. FAULT.
You should have heard her on the phone just now. Um. No, maybe you shouldn't have. Prayers would be appreciated, because I've done everything I can do, and I hate the feeling that I'm being punished for something I didn't think to do. *sigh*
(You know that SG-1 icon you have, the "I'm having a bad day, okay?" one? That's me right now. Gah.)
If it was sent certified, do you at least have a receipt that you can show the landlord? If he only lets you pay by mail, you shouldn't be responsible for delays caused by the mail.
That's what I just told them on the phone. They insist I should have sent it overnight mail (the heck? how should I know the post office would mislay it?) instead of certified. That it's now late and since it's my fault I owe a late fee and need to send them money (which, for their info, I DO NOT HAVE).
They wouldn't even take the certification number so they could check up on my story. I think they just want to blame me.
Wah. What a lovely start to my day.

ARGH. This would drive me right up the frickin' wall.
I know it's a piteously meagre balm, but I shall give you a sweet comfit. I mean, a SG1MST3k icon.
Up the wall? Try right out of the frickin' building into the parking lot, where I sat for 20 minutes trying to calm myself down. Bleh.
And an SG1MST3k icon totally counts as a sweet comfit. :-) Bring it on!

That's very, very amusing. Well done! :-) Love Ba'al; and Carter's "human race"; and you even got mini-Jack into it. Yay!
That's just stupid. Why would overnight mail be safer than certified mail? They're being unreasonable. Not that it helps much to know that. :(
I wonder what will happen if I refuse to pay the late fee.
I wonder how much I can push this stupid thing and not find myself evicted.
(No, my mind is not a productive, pro-active place right now--I've done all I can do, and I'm stuck, stuck, stuck.)
Hopefully they will back down after they get the check and see that you did, indeed, send it when you say you did.
Please God, that's what will happen. Please God, the money order will reach them today so this won't drag out for the next week or two.

Did you get through to the post office and see what the laggards have done with your payment?
Yeah, I called them up and checked through the automated part, and then I talked to one of their Customer Reps, and he also looked it up. It was mailed/accepted at the time and date on my receipt, but all their records show past that is that it's "en route". *sigh*

You have a reciept, you have a code, you have confirmation from the Post Office. It will be postdated Dec 2 on the envelope. It's not your fault. I don't know what to tell you about the late charges, tho. *sigh*
Umm... now that I think of it, it may not be a coincidence that this happened just when we're discussing having a life witness. o_O
I usually don't consider that, though I know it happens (has in fact happened to me, before)--it's kind of like government conspiracies; I bet some exist, but I don't usually think much about them.
And in which case, *trust* needs to be the operative word even more, huh? (And I'm glad I hung up on my landlady instead of cussing her out, which was the much more attractive option at the time. Heh.)

Just read this. :( All I can offer is some belated **HUGS**
Aw. The hugs are very welcome, thank you. :-)
I have not responded until now because what I have to say isn't particularly nice (about the landlord) or productive. But I have been thinking of you. I do wish I had some advice to give, or money to help you cover the late fee or something.
Aw, that's okay. I know you're praying, and God has always kept me afloat financially (barely, but I've never been flat broke, only almost) before.
I guess I must just trust Him. And get some good advice. Why is everything about $$ this month? It's really weird.
