11:02 pm - "....." (Supernatural)
*deep breaths*

Whoa.

Um.

I think I'm still shaking. Whoa.

I just piggybacked on somebody's nearby wireless and watched the latest two episodes of Supernatural. Holy CRAP. Why am I not watching this show full-time?

I wanted to watch this mostly because I wanted to see how the show actually did the idea I had for an SPN spec script. They covered all the bases I wanted to, plus some. Wow.

Also, may I completely fangirl Jensen Ackles for a second? I'm not talking his hot factor (which for me is right off the charts), but his acting is subtle and believable and sells everything about this show. Not that Jared Padelecki doesn't contribute loads of awesomeness on his own, but Jensen...owns this show. IMHO.

THERE ARE SPOILERS BEHIND THE CUT, PEOPLE.

I have no words. Okay, I do, but that last scene knocked them all into disarray. Suspenseful, interesting...I saw someone else call this episode "brutal," and that's right on. I want to talk about the shock of what happened at the Roadhouse, and the new backstory we learned (if the demon wasn't lying outright, and why should it?), and Dean receiving a vision....

But all I have in my head is the shock of that last scene. The knife twist. The echo of Dean's "Sam!" from the end of the teaser. The utter emptiness of Sam's body crumpled against Dean--I'm not sure I've ever seen anything more convincing on TV.

And Jensen, again...gah. There are no words. None.

Exactly. *eyes you suspiciously*

You know the finale's tomorrow, right?

I've been a CSI fangirl for a good deal longer than SPN has been on the air, so...I'm going to have to somehow figure out a way to get my hands on SPN, because I have to DVR CSI's finale tomorrow night (excuse: wrap-up of a season-long arc, and possible death of a main character).

Ah, in that case: there is a season 1 dvd available, and I'm told there will be reruns of season two in the summer (somewhere). Also, is your DVR capable of recording two things at the same time? Mine is, but I don't know, maybe it's advanced or something. *scratches head* Or maybe you can DVR one and watch the other? ;>

LOL. Yes, I have season one on my Netflix queue for this summer, and have been watching when I could this season (yay for borrowing my neighbor's wireless internet). And my DVR can do 2 at once, but I share it with my roomie, who loves her Thursday night comedies. Oh well.

Not reading the spoilers in case I want to watch it someday, but . . .

You're not excited or anything, are you? Heheh.

NO, I'M NOT EXCITED! WHAT MADE YOU THINK THAT?!

*sheepish grin*

I'm starting to think you should maybe be watching this show too. The brothers' relationship, the excitement, the emotion without heading into melodrama.... You might like it a lot.

In looking for something else you posted (specifically, your review of Children of Men . . . you totally need a tag cloud), I found this post.

Gee, ya think?

I just saw Supernatural for the first time a couple of weeks ago (the one with the Jin). The writing was surprisingly good, and you're right, the acting is phenomenal. I feel like I've known those two guys my whole life even though I just saw one episode with them.

BTW, Dean and Sam? How funny is that? :)

The writing isn't *always* that good (I'm rather astonished by that particular episode), but it nearly is. And yes, the acting is great. Both guys separately, and they work very, very well together.

I feel like I've known those two guys my whole life even though I just saw one episode with them.

Wow. I'm even more impressed, given the episode you saw--we didn't get much of Sam as he normally is, nor the Dean & Sam Show which is normal in most episodes (we just get bits, at the beginning and end). You should go get your hands on the first season DVDs! (the episode "Faith" is particularly good.)

BTW, Dean and Sam? How funny is that?

Pretty darn funny. Especially since Sam is the brainy boy, and Dean is the ladies' man. :-D

Yeah. Part of what worked so well about the episode was what the writers told me through showing the reverse. I knew how tight Sam and Dean were because of how strange Dean (?) treated it when Sam was distant from him.

Even their interplay on the ride to the abandoned warehouse...I got a sense of that chemistry between them.

Maybe it's because Dean (I hope I'm getting the names right - he's the one who had the "dream," right?) reminds me a lot of a friend of mine from childhood. He had a similar "brotherly" relationship with me. Eventually he changed, not entirely for the better, and we have somewhat drifted apart. Not to the degree that Sam and Dean were in this episode, but definitely not what it was.

I didn't realize it until I started writing this, but maybe that's why this episode hit home emotionally so much for me. Usually "dream" episodes don't have that kind of effect on me (and yeah, it was more than just that anyway).

This is a late reply, but yes, Dean is the one who had the "dream." The older brother, a ladies' man who likes hard rock and muscle cars (the Impala they drive is his).
