Snagged from, uh, almost everyone:

Name a character and I'll give you three or more "facts" from my personal fanon about that character.

Please keep to shows you know I write in or watch faithfully (ie, SG-1 or The Sentinel are great, I'd try something like Heroes or House, but LOST or Ugly Betty or Scrubs might not be so great).

Since it was mentioned before, Mirai Hiro. Mirai being the Japanese word for "future" :)

Future Hiro

(Link)
Mirai (‘future’) Hiro:

1) He carries Ando’s death not only in his heart, but on his conscience. It is not that Hiro failed to reach him in time. It is that the choice that faced him was between distracting Syler to save Ando, or getting close enough to Sylar to freeze and kill him. Hiro always thought that Kenshi’s decision to “cut out his heart” referred to a hero’s ability to sacrifice himself.

After Ando, he realized that assumption had been mistaken and naive.

2—Though Hiro failed to save Charlie, the choice to go back and try is the only choice from the past five years which he does not (in some sense) regret.

3—Hiro’s sword was made by a master swordsman. It is perfectly balanced, beautiful, deadly, and so much an extension of his body that he does not know what he would do without it.

Yet every time he passes a steep drop or a swift river, Hiro has to fight off a powerful urge to throw the sword in and walk away.

Yes, I've been thinking that, too.

Mmm. Sam Carter, please? =)

Samantha Carter:

1) Sam loves old, romantic movies, especially if they star Gene Kelly or Frank Sinatra.

2) She’s given up on the idea that she will ever have children. Sam has spent her life fighting and inventing and saving the world. She wouldn’t trade those years with SG-1 for anything, but sometimes, when Cassie brings it up or Teal’c talks about Ryac, Sam wishes she’d had the chance to carry a child.

3) Sam is the one who went to Janet’s house in Colorado Springs, to tell Cassie that her second mother was dead. She wouldn’t let anyone else do it; it had to be her.

TAke your pick of Gil Grissom or Daniel Jackson. Whiche ever has a more interesting personal canon. (I am a goof and misread the directions the first time. Oi.)

Gil Grissom

1) After Nick’s abduction, after waiting to clean up loose ends and to hear that Nick would be okay, Grissom went to the nearest Catholic church and waited there until early morning Mass. For the first time since childhood, he participated in the entire service, kneeling and standing and speaking the words of the liturgy.

After that, after finding solace in old ceremony, he could go home, let go, and rest.

2) Grissom gets migraine headaches more often than he lets on.

3) He’s not the one who initially brought up the need to keep his relationship with Sara a secret. She mentioned it first, and although he agreed with her, for the sake of their careers, he would secretly like to tell the world. Or at least their co-workers.

*gasp!!!* Are you saying that Sara and Liz Warner are cut from the same cloth?

Of course, Don's and Gris's styles of telling are . . . a little different, huh. Of course, so were the circumstances.

Are you saying that Sara and Liz Warner are cut from the same cloth?

Ha.

Um, no.

For one thing, note that I said Sara was the one to bring up the topic. It had been on both their minds, since career is pretty important to both of them. Also, if this had been my canon about Sara, I would have said that she brought it up so he wouldn't have to. She expected him to want to keep it quiet, and wanted him badly enough that that seemed the smallest of prices to pay. (And I think they were already in a relationship at that point; it wasn't a condition of them getting together, but a mutual decision afterwards.)

it wasn't a condition of them getting together, but a mutual decision afterwards.

And therein lies the difference.

Liz pursued Don, then when Don shows interest, she's all "Oh, no. It will ruin my career. We have to keep it quiet." Then she's all "I told you people would talk."

Sarah and Gil are far more subtle.

You got in on the ground floor with this one. :-)

Hammond of Texas

1) Hammond considers Jack as almost a surrogate son . . . but then, he feels that way about most of the people under his command.

2—He holds a deep and quiet faith in God. It has blossomed in retirement, and hardly a day passes when he doesn’t at least say one quick prayer for off-world teams.

3—Hammond isn’t the one who recommended O’Neill for base commander. He thought the choice was sound, but knew how much sitting behind a desk would drive Jack crazy.

Jim Ellison

1) Jim is a secret bookworm, with a soft spot for westerns, scif-fi, and the novels of Fyodor Dostoevsky.

2) One of the reasons behind Jim and Carolyn’s divorce was a miscarriage.

3) About half the reason Jim took to Blair so quickly is because Jim really misses being somebody’s big brother. Same reason he was such a good mentor to Danny Choi. He’d deny this if you asked him; he may not recognize it as playing into their friendship at all. But it does.

Sorry this took so long! Moving will do that to a person.

Ando

1) Originally, Ando only befriended Hiro because Hiro was the son of the big boss. It couldn’t hurt his job prospects to do a little sucking up, even if the boy was a complete geek.

2) Ando has never been one for confrontation. He’d rather walk away than get into a fight trying to stand up for his rights. He learned very young that the best way to avoid getting hurt is to stay under the radar, be a peacemaker, be the quiet one. Compared to people who stood up for others in school, Ando knows he is a coward.

And it’s not until Hiro compliments his bravery after the ill-fated attempt to kill Sylar that Ando realizes exactly how much he has changed. That maybe he’s not a coward after all.

3) He thinks waffles taste like edible cardboard. Even with fruit or syrup on top.

Don Eppes

1) Don and Kim (“Counterfeit Reality”) weren’t just dating before Don transferred back to L.A. to be near his dying mother. They were engaged. Kim was the one who couldn’t handle the distance, especially during such a tough time for Don. She sent him a letter telling him so, and included the ring. Don’s never quite gotten over that.

2) Don has a Bachlor’s degree in History. He almost took Art instead--anything to get as far away from Charlie’s specialty as possible.

3) He doesn’t get much time to read, and has never quite figured out what sort of books he likes best, but Don does enjoy browsing in used bookstores. Old books, waiting for new owners, full of all kinds of interesting statements and thoughts and perspectives, gravitate into his hands. There’s a tall shelf in his living room stuffed full of hard- and paperback books on travel, biographies, science fiction (he has two copies of Ender’s Game). He’s read less than a tenth of them, because it doesn’t work that well as an escape for him. But they’re always there, waiting for the day when he does have enough free time to live for a while in a world not his own.

Hey, I believe all those (though I think Don with a degree in Art History would be fun). I particularly like the third one, I can see it clearly.

Maybe he started out in Art, then switched to History for his major and took a minor in Art/Art History? Heeee.

Glad you thought these were all plausible. I've held that last one since I first watched "Counterfeit Reality" and noticed the jam-packed bookcase in Don's living room, but this is the first chance I've had to really articulate it. Didn't realize I'd incorporated it into my view of Don quite that deeply. Huh.
