mini-jack technobabble

SG-1 crack (or, reporting from RL fandom)

So, on Thanksgiving, I was with some friends and we were all amusing ourselves watching some really old Walt Disney Christmas cartoons. Most of my friends work in film or TV, so there was some gentle mockery of the old ways going on, as well as some random comments from the peanut gallery such as, "I don't understand why Santa's sack of toys isn't bigger, if he's supposed to deliver toys to all the children of the world."

From the other side of the room, my acquaintance and fellow SG-1 fan Sam cleared his throat, then said quietly and with conviction, "Santa is a Replicator."

After a few seconds of pondering this apparent non-sequitur and realizing the implications for things like the automatic creation of toys at whatever location they were need, I sort of burst out laughing.

Because it makes a very bizarre sort of sense.

And would make extremely cracked-out SG-1 fic.

Oh, I dare someone to write it. Even if it's just a drabble, I dare someone to write it....
are you ready to be strong?

15-Charaters Meme (yes, again)

Like I don't have enough distractions going on. LOL! But this was a huge barrel of fun last time, and I think I need to do it again. Snagged from about half of my flist, including astrogirl2, mistraltoes, and kerravonsen.

1. Make a list of 15 characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment.

2. Ask your flist to post questions each in the screened comments.
For example: "4, 6, 12, and 15 are starting a band together, what is their name and what kind of music do they play? Also, who's the lead singer, and what instruments do the others play?"

3. After your flist has asked enough questions, round them up and answer in a separate post.

Please keep your questions at least potentially gen in nature.
Ninth Doctor, come with me!

The Doctor-Companion relationship as a metaphor for trust in God

I've been thinking of posting something about this for a long time (ever since I first watched "Parting of the Ways," I think). It's not going to be extensive or scholarly, since I'm a newbie fan and since like most analogies, this only goes so far. (The Doctor can't really be God, or we lose a lot of story conflict value and character angst. LOL.)

But here we go.
