What has surprised you the most about me (if anything) since beginning to read my lj? Was anything completely unexpected or have I always fit the picture of me you have in your head?

Post this in your own journal (NB if you like, no obligation) and see how you have surprised people.

I'm still building my mental picture of you (what can I say, I'm slow) and it gets added to...

I'm that way with people too, often. (Though you surprised me by being more gen-leaning--I had somehow acquired the idea that you were a hardcore slasher. You don't seem to mind slash, but you also like gen, which made me happy.)

I'm more a hardcore reader :) I will read pretty much anything about my characters :) and happily say that of the stories I save, there are actually more gen than slash... but there's lots of both, and some het too (what can I say, my favourite fannish characters are male)

Considering how long we've known each other . . . I think I found out all the "surprising" stuff pre-LJ. And none of it actually applies to expectation. You know?

LOL, yes, exactly.

This is fairly banal, but I was surprised to learn you liked DS9. (So do I - I think it's probably my favourite Trek, though I do also have immense fondness for the original series, particularly the dynamic between Kirk, Spock and McCoy.)

Apparently this startles a lot of people. *g* TNG was my first fandom, but DS9 trumped it and spoiled me for ever liking Voyager or Enterprise.

Voyager is as dust below the chariot wheels of DS9, and the only good things about Enterprise were Reed and T'Pol (who were basically Bashir and Spock, anyway).

I didn't realize at first you were out to write scripts professionally; I think you're the only one on my flist with that goal.

Not relevant, but are you ever going to do this?

Yes, are we ever doing My First Story Day? I want to play, too!

I should do that! Hmmm. Maybe around New Year's?

New Year's would be a GREAT time, because people could go digging around their parents' attics over Christmas. :)

Well, I didn't talk much about my scripts for a while, did I? A misplaced desire for discretion, I think. :)

Ha! First Story Day! Believe it or not, I was just recently thinking about that again. I should see if I can round up enough people over the holidays...maybe we can do it around New Year's? *plots*

You constantly surprised me when we first became LJ friends, in that wonderful C.S. Lewis way that makes me go "Oh, I'm not the only one! Sweet!" God! Homeschooling! More authors than you can shake a very big stick at!

Also, I should probably be surprised that you apparently possess the power to get me addicted to any TV show you want.

More recently, you surprised me by getting into church leadership, but I think I already told you about that. *grin*

I, too, was surprised by your TV writing ambitions. I don't think it was so much that I was surprised that you planned to write for TV, as I was that there were real people who planned to write for TV. *g* As in, TV writers weren't just an immortal subspecies of Shakespeare's monkeys, all caged in a cushy warehouse somewhere in L.A. (Then again, when I was little I didn't really think book authors were real people, either.)

ROTFL. That makes sense, actually; I probably do seem either a little bit crazy or a bit of a mythical figure. Sometimes I think I *am* crazy to be doing this; I'm not ambitious enough, I just want to write stories.
