I went with them to Disneyland, my first visit since I was 4. Honestly? It was far more entertaining that I had expected it to be; and more than that, it actually shook the thin layer of cynicism I've acquired living here in LA. I should have been able to see right through the facade, right? It's just people dressed up, it's just one big performance every day for the visitors.
And yet... somehow it's more than that. I'm not sure if it just wields enough nostalgia to make one remember what it was like to be a child, when all things were possible. Or if there really is something left over from Walt Disney himself, some residue from the fact that he made HIS dream come true. Whatever it is, there was something in the air that spoke of hope, and that I had not expected at all.
I forgot what else I was going to post! Heh. Oh wait....
Right. I'm serving on a jury (civil case, not criminal) for the first time. This means I am not working at my normal job, and thus not getting paid (stupid work), but it's rather interesting all the same. I'm filing away all the experience for future stories and fics.
Also, it's far too amusing being able to guess when the attorneys are going to object to something. Too much Law&Order, perhaps? *snicker*
