|10:42 pm - Uh...hi?|
It appears that I haven't posted for 6 days. Um, sorry? That's kind of unusual, I know. It's not even that I've been running around like a crazy person or wrapped up in a great new script or anything. I've just been slow, trying to keep everything balanced, and depressed and not coming up with stuff to post.
A couple of quick catch-up notes:
Defying Gravity, ABC's new show (which they are pulling a FOX stunt with, starting it in early August with almost no press--foul, network, foul), has quite a lot of potential. I'd love to know what the scientists among you think, since it's based around the crew of a 6-year manned flight around the solar system. Bit of a sci-fi soap opera, and not something we've seen on network (or cable TV) for a long time, really. \o/
The TV spec I'm working on is not going well. Why do I like writing crime procedurals, again? *pouts*
A lot of people love me. I know this, but sometimes it hits me out of the blue, and I kind of have to stare at the fact until it sinks in. And then I smile a lot. :)
I'll be back around LJ soon, I'm sure. I think. Anyway. I'm still reading my flist. Pray for me?
Current Mood: good
I hear you on the Spec front. I've got a Leverage stalled because I have yet to come up with an adequate logic to the scam.=)
I was Key PA on Defying Gravity for a few weeks. Most impressive studio sets I've ever worked with. Laura Harris is very friendly. Ron Livingston is very quiet.
Odd that you refer to it as an "ABC show." It was produced by the BBC, CTV, and FOX. Is ABC showing it?
Yes, ABC is the network that bought broadcast rights in the US. I was aware of its multinational genesis--Kim is the first person who alerted me to the show at all! And the Canadian airings started the same week as ours down here (though it's on Sunday nights here and I think Kim said it's a Friday show up there).
Edited because I misidentified an actress. I think. I'm tired. *facepalm*

No, that's Laura Harris from Dead Like Me. I had her sign my DVD. :-P
That was rather poetical.
Just FYI: I got the thing for beta. Will try to get to it early this week.
I'm back to work today after a week off. I . . . really don't want to go.
(Also, Fee, you owe me a beta, too. September draws nigh!)
Aw, work sucks. (Just because I wish I had some doesn't change that....)
Yay for beta notes! (Although I think you should send Marie hers first.)
I watched the first 10 minutes of the pilot and turned it off. Right from the beginning I was put off by the actions of the captain. No love from me.
Which captain? The guy on the Mars mission flashback?
it's based around the crew of a 6-year manned flight around the solar system. Bit of a sci-fi soap opera,
Eeeee! This sounds like exactly my sort of thing. I shall have to look it up post-haste.
Give it a shot. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it might be yours. :)
Boo to lack of publicity and stupid timeslots. They aired the pilot here on Space at... 5pm! 5! People are coming home from work then! What idiots. Anyway. I'm gonna try to catch it streaming off the Space website.
I'm sorry your spec is having trouble. Hugs!!
And MORE HUGS because YES you are loved, silly. Lots and lots of love. Praying for you. Pray for me too?

Always praying for you. :)
Wow, that's an even dumber timeslot than here! At least Sunday nights @ ten might get people who are crashed and channel-surfing after their weekend.
Love! It's a great thing. *hugs*
Someone else on my f-list just recced Defying Gravity, so I think I'll give it a try on Hulu on my lunch-hours. Have you seen all the episodes so far? What's your take on it now-- is it going to be worth following?
I'm caught up on DG, yes. It's...hmmm. It's continuing to have the awesome bits that I like--the actual scifi stuff, cool social tidbits that help me believe its future setting (example: abortion is illegal in the US), and there's an overarching mystery going on that is LOST-style interesting.
Otoh, it keeps reminding me of Grey's Anatomy in tone. My boyfriend objected that the entire group is too dysfunctional to actually have made it through astronaut training...but as I reminded him, that's actually part of the plot/mystery/etc. (The writers hung a tiny, very polite lantern on this in the pilot.)
So...you should try it. But if for some reason the soap-opera-ness isn't your deal, I totally understand. I may or may not ditch it; it's sort of on positive probation right now. :)
