|04:29 pm - Okay, you guys, I have to share this|
If you're familiar with Life on Mars series 2, you'll have seen this already, or so I understand (it opens an episode, I believe). But I found it online, and OMG I am so amused. Even just saying "It's Sam Tyler," to myself is enough to make me break into giggles. I don't know. It's great. :)
Oh, the Camberwick Green teaser! I know it's subverting treasured memories of my childhood, but it remains both awesome and funny...
Is the subversion part of the funny? Because I think part of the reason this amuses me so is that it reminds me of one of *my* childhood programs, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (it had puppets).
I just... Puppet!Sam putting his head in his hands, and the narrator's understated, "Oh dear. Not very happy." Sam. *glee*
Yes, very likely! The narrator's tone of voice is a very close match to Camberwick Green, too (a certain kind of British children's telly in general, actually)
... I just watched the trailer for American Life on Mars, and am now suffering severe cognitive dissonance at the sight of Chief O'Brian being Gene Hunt. Somehow watching him punch not!John Simm carries less conviction than when Phillip Glennister does it....
I watched that yesterday, too (I have a friend locally who is swearing to make us all watch the US version--nobody but me has seen the UK one), and am very confused. I guess they actually made trailers from the original pilot with Colm in it? Because I also know that at the network's request they rewrote and reshot the pilot (moving it from L.A. to New York in the process), and recast EVERYONE except for Jason O'Mara (Sam). Gene Hunt is now played by Harvey Keitel (which...he's too old for the part, imho).
But the trailers I found on YouTube obviously had Colm Meany in them. Weird.

- you've probably found this already, but here
are the opening and closing credits from Camberwick Green
. They changed with each episode, as each programme concentrated on a different character.
I had not found that! Thank you! :)
