Okay, so, the thing about finishing a Patrick O'Brian novel after watching a bunch of Life on Mars is that Jack Aubrey starts to sound like Phillip Glenister.

"You say that like it's a bad thing." --Gene Hunt
Current Location: some weird version of the Aubrey/Maturin books
Current Mood: amusedamused

You really do need to watch series 2; I was just going to email you and say that, because after I watched a couple of interviews about the finale I started thinking about your Pier script and how they're...similar. But not. But they are, in theme. Sort of. Anyway! :)

Did you ever watch Master & Commander? That's an adaptation of a couple of Patrick O'Brian novels--Russel Crowe played Capt. Aubrey in that.

I've seen the movie, and read bits of the books (and picked up a cookbook that goes into redacting recipes from the time and mentioned in the books, which I can love for its historical/reference wonderfulness even though I don't know the books :)

Hee! Though Gene is not particularly musical...

Still, I think I may hear Jack as P.G. next time I read the books...

No, Gene is not. But I'm still having a hard time getting P.G. out of my mental-image generator (the long blond-ish hair isn't helping, mind).
