--Okay, anything that can use and make mock of Twilight (yes, I have read the first 2 books) with this kind of attention to detail deserves extra kudos right there. Down to Dean's "God help me, I'm Pattinson," comment when he's in the bedroom with Lisa.
--It was also a visually striking episode, with the lights and the blood and that high awesome ceiling. Someone's doing color meta for this season, I'm sure. Anyone know where I might find some? Cause we were back to a lot of red and blue here...
--Not sure what to make of the Campbell recipe for un-vamping a vampire. Feels kind of like a get-out-of-jail-free card, even though they tried to take that edge off with the "no blood drinking" rule
--Hmmm. I'm not shocked that the monsters are building armies. Power vacuum, anyone? At least they're way more interesting than the Ori. :)
--Dean/Lisa: I don't think it's over yet. I can think of reasons why it should be, and I imagine that's why Lisa's not picking up Dean's calls. But I predict we haven't seen the last of her and Ben. (That was an uncomfy and painful scene, when he goes to visit them.)
-- DEAR SAM, WTF. Obviously Samuel is right, and you did let Dean get turned on purpose. You are the consummate hunter, now, but the fact that it's really getting in the way of any concern for individuals fighting on the side of good is disturbing. BE OKAY, SAM. :(
--re: the above: Sam clearly too dissembling lessons FROM LUCIFER, y/y?
Current Mood: curious
Have you read my commentary? I talk kind of lengthily about my take on the recipe. It admittedly does feel really
convenient, but I'll go along with it, considering the Winchester (not the Campbell) history with vamps.
One of the things I think is interesting about all this is that Sam and Dean are from a long line of hunter . . . on the Campbell side, which they never knew. All their hunting training and experience came from a first generation hunter who knew nothing of the trade previously.
Dude, don't even mention the Ori. *shudder* But I was thinking about the building armies thing, too. The shapshifter is raising an army (literally). The vamps, and we're going to have to find out how the djinn fit into that (if they do). Interesting.
I also don't think the door is shut on Dean/Lisa. I'd be delighted if it could continue to work. Especially since Dean needs someone he can count on, some safe place he can go.
Now, about Sam. I'm starting think (and kind of hope) that something's riding piggyback, something we've never been introduced to before. Because that would be kind of interesting and cool, if all of this odd behavior is because something we've never met before latched on. Kind of like that story of Refur's
, only backwards.
I'm really looking forward to Friday's ep. I'm hoping we'll start getting answers.
As I told Val, I'm also okay with the vamp/cure thing because we got to see Dean be incredibly hot and badass. Heh.
I do like the whole Campbell family thing, and hope that we get more of it this season.
I admit that I have no clue what is going on with Sam. Those who have meta'd that he may have somehow sold his soul for the bargaining chip out of the Cage make the most sense to me, but honestly? At this point it could be almost anything. (Except I do think this is Sam, or partly Sam, not possession or something that looks like Sam.)
Next week's preview gave me flashbacks to early season 4. Which made me twitchy, except that Dean, at least, is still operating from his newly broadened persona, so I'm sure we won't just get a rerun of "omg!betrayal."
