11:38 pm - Fandom pairings meme
Snagged from kerravonsen, with her non-slash addition:

Make a list of all the characters in your icons. (Although you may have more than one icon of a single character, they only go on the list once.) Alphabetize it. Take the first two people on the list; that's your first pairing. Second two people; second pairing. Etc.

I sorted this by surname (though there are a frightening number of folks here we don't know the surname of). And since I don't do slash, the m + m are all ampersanded. I dare ya to write any of these.

Here's mine!

Samuel Beckett/Samantha Carter--wow, talk about your match made in heaven! Both physics geeks, though Beckett's more easy-going. Actually, this is one crossover 'ship I wouldn't mind reading.
Jim Ellison & Samwise Gamgee--I have no idea if they would even get along (though I am having flashbacks to Samwise confronting Faramir). I suppose it would depend on what sort of mission they undertook. I definitely can't imagine a setting in which these two would meet.
Gil Grissom & Xander Harris--They'd fight. But I could actually see them working together, since Xander does know how to let the book-smarts do their job, and Gil values loyalty.
Daniel Jackson & Jack O'Neill--Best buddies, most of the time.
Blair Sandburg/Sha're--Aside from the language barrier, I cannot see Sha're with anyone but Daniel. Although--Sha're certainly would be Sandburg's type. :-)
Siler/Violet--um, this would be once Violet is no longer underage? Heh. Um. Or maybe my left-out icon, Ron Weasley, can pair up with Violet, and Siler can be their chaparone? Yeah, there we go.
Current Mood: exhaustedexhausted
Current Music: Quantum Leap theme (in my head)

Siler would be the Incredibles' stoic tech-master (repairing the Incredibile, making new gadgets), and Violet would have a tiny bit of a crush on him but outgrow it because Siler never gets any lines. :-D

Carter, given enough blue Jell-O, could have gotten Sam Beckett home, but not before Al drove her crazy.

Oh, yeah. :-) I can get behind that.

Carter, given enough blue Jell-O, could have gotten Sam Beckett home, but not before Al drove her crazy.

Too bad she wouldn't be able to see Al. Or did you mean Beckett leaps into Carter, and Carter-at-the-Project comes up with the retrieval program? ;-) ["I'm named Samantha again?" Hey, I just watched "What Price Gloria" last night.]

No, I meant Carter would be working at the Project (hey...do we know what she did around 1996-1999, the years of the Project? :-D) And Al outside the imaging chamber would drive her crazy.

This has been bugging me for some time. Is Sha're the same character from the movie who fell in love with Daniel Jackson? Cause she was named Sha'uri...

It's bugged a lot of people. Yes, Sha're is Sha'uri. They changed the name and the actress.

As JD said. It still bugs me. :-P

They also changed the spelling of Jack's last name: in the movie he was O'Neil, and in the series he is (emphatically) "O'Neill. With two 'l's!" I kind of liked that change though, it's a bit of a nod to the fact that O'Neill is rather different from Kurt Russel's O'Neil in the film.

I can really see Two L's letting Skaara smoke that time knowing the poor kid would cough his lungs out, and that little "How ya doin', huh?" as he drops his disguise and opens fire on the surprised Jaffa. He would definitely have snarked off more to Ra had he been there, tho. :-)

Well, you could stand in the face of it, and call them by their real names....

Speaking for me, I don't think so. I've seen enough SG-1 that O'Neill is O'Neil, Shanks is Daniel Jackson, and Sha're is pretty much Sha'uri.

But, ironically, James Spader now has his own show...

Ummm well you wanted me to reply, but...

Samuel Beckett is who now?

Jim Ellison?? I like the idea of Samwise confronting Faramir...

Gil & Xander...hee hee...that could be fun.

Siler? Who's Siler?

I have failed...*lowers head*

Samuel Beckett: brilliant theoretical physicist who designed a machine, the Quantum Leap Accelerator, to transport one through time (but only within one's lifetime). He is trapped in the past, constantly time-shifting into the bodies of people who lived in various times and places, and he cannot continue until he sets right some wrong in that person's lifetime.

Sgt. Siler is the chief technician at Stargate Command. Sort of a non-accented Scotty.

Why thank you, JD! How very insightful! :)

In that case I'll bet a story involving and Samantha Carter would indeed be interesting...

I just realized. You forgot Artsy.

She was on my initial list, then I dropped her out because I didn't want to take the time explaining her to all the non-LICCers on my flist.

Had I left her (and my odd-out icon, Ron Weasley) in, the list would have come out as follows:

Artsy-Fartsy/Sam Beckett
Samantha Carter/Jim Ellison
Samwise Gamgee & Gil Grissom
Xander Harris & Daniel Jackson
Jack O’Neill & Blair Sandburg
Share/Siler
Violet/Ron Weasley

I'm seeing three pairs there that I can reasonably assume have been used in crossover fics at one time or another. :-)

You know what would be fun? A sort of proto-LICC, maybe little shreds of story posts (perhaps set post-LICC) amongst the four LJLICCers we have now. I've been wanting to post more writing on my LJ (to hopefully draw in interest) and this might be a fun project. Of course, I could just be a sad individual who misses his old story a little too much. :-D

SamC and JimE, XanderH and DannyJ, and JackO and BlairS. I'm positive somewhere in the deepest realms of fandom these pairings have been at least slightly touched upon. :-)

About the proto-LICC, I'm wondering how we should start it up. Amongst the active LJLICCers, we have Artsy, Keiran, Rikard, and Milkshake. A solid enough core for a post-LICC story chain, I suppose. If we can rope Paddy, that's Insane and Enesku added in. Maybe some plot about some crisis involving Earth that several former Leaguers decide to combat?

The story bits should be short so that RL won't have much opportunity to interfere (I'm finding it harder to write lately) and perhaps the format would call for each author to write their bits from the POV of their characters, as with LICC. With the characters we have, I don't think it'll be a problem if the story takes a more literary/serious tone than LICC did for most of its run. :-)

SamC and JimE,

Actually, I don't think I've seen or heard of this one. Don't know why not!

XanderH and DannyJ,

I've seen friendship fic, and I've seen these characters slashed (which is bizarre to me, as I see both of them as pretty much un-slashable).

JackO and BlairS.

In the same story, friendship/allies? Yup. Quite often.

Well, you know you're obligated now! :-D

I've emailed Pad and Josh on proto-LICC, BTW.
