12:19 am - Contemplation
"No weapon forged against you will prevail;
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.

This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
and this is their vindication from Me,"

declares the LORD.

Isaiah 54:17

Ah, but how can we be sure that we are always and everywhere on the side of the Lord? Remember, people such as ECUSA on the one side and the Ku Klux Klan on the other both managed to convince themselves that they were doing His will. No later than this morning, I had to apologize for having taken not only a wrong but a crassly wrong position against someone who meant me no harm at all. Being wrong is the easiest thing in the world.

I'm rather bemused by your response. I guess we really see the idea of "vindication" from vastly different angles: I do like to discuss things with people, but long, long ago I gave up trying to "convince" them...that's not my business, even when it comes to Truth. So on one level, your response doesn't even meet up with what I was thinking when I posted this snippet of the word of God.

I was struck by this verse while reading in Isaiah last night because "Satan" means accuser (he's even called that directly: "accuser of the brethren"), and the idea of our Lord coming to our rescue when we are being accused by our spiritual enemy is vastly reassuring. It's a perspective I hadn't quite thought of before.

Read the book of Job in a while? Even though Job was wrong in some of his perspectives, the Lord said that he was the one who was righteous, rather than his friends who were trying to nail down exactly how God does everything. Interesting.

Anyway. /ramble

"Satan" means accuser

Just on a technical note, I believe "Satan" in the original Hebrew text means "resister". However, Satan's title, "Devil", in the original Greek di·a´bo·los, means "slanderer", which is much in keeping with "accuser."

*grin* Yes, I did mean the Greek term. Should've specified. And frankly, the Hebrew word/meaning fits in nicely with my train of thought, as well. Both "resister" and "slanderer" are terms for an attacker or one who presents an obstacle.

Being wrong is the easiest thing in the world.

It is, because we are imperfect, but the Bible exists to teach us the perfect laws and principles of God as exemplified through Jesus Christ. Too many people today claim to follow the Bible to gain support but either ignore most of what it says or twist its meaning according to human thinking.
