Well, apparently not quite yet--not this season--but William Petersen is talking about leaving CSI, again.

William Petersen Reveals Reasons for Wanting to Leave CSI

Not that the reasons aren't good ones, and the show has had a fantastic run to date...I just know I'm going to miss my Grissom once CSI (whether soon or years in the future) goes off the air.

*ponders buying the DVDs*

He can't leave. They need him. It would be sad. :(

You stole my words.

:-)

Just because I wrote a fic about Grissom leaving doesn't mean I want him too, dang it! *criez*

Yeah, first three seasons sound good. *adds to birthday list, after "Sentinel, 1st season"*

Well, I've just finished watching season 1 on DVD while being sick (and now feel somewhat bereft). Should write a post, I guess.

But six seasons is an awful lot of time. If he's feeling it's getting too much for him, he really should leave. And I wish him well.

And, frankly, six seasons is a long time for a show, and they should probably wrap it up when he leaves. Because for one thing, viewers are going to leave -- I for one wouldn't want to watch it without Grissom there. Since they already have spin-offs set in different cities, it isn't as if the concept would die, is it?

Absolutely. The man has not only played Grissom for that time, he's also been something of an advocate to keep the show high-quality--he really cares about it.

Too right we'll leave. This is actually what I'm most afraid of; if Petersen needs to leave, fine, and may he be blessed. But oh, if the show producers (especially if the networks execs get in on it) are stupid enough to think they can keep it going without Grissom.... *tears hair*

Hmm. I was just asking a friend what "jumping the shark" would look like on a show like CSI. I know! CSI without Grissom. :-)

The question is, how many viewers will leave? It is CBS's highest rated show (right?). They could lose quite a few viewers and it would still be a success.
